Taekus is a fintech startup building the traveler’s dream credit card – and we’re doing that by creating a new points infrastructure – a feat that involves both cutting-edge technology and bold new partnerships.

It all began in 2019 when two avid travelers stumbled upon the strange world of credit cards and airline miles, learning how to book $24,000 first-class airline tickets for $1400 worth of points. We realized we could integrate our knowledge into a credit card with smart points that did the work for you — so anyone can travel more without needing to become a points-obsessed enthusiast.

Here we are now — tackling a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity to push the first real innovation in the true super-premium market since the inception of rewards credit cards.

How We're Doing

We’re profitable 4 months after launching our private alpha product. In 2022, our customers are running hundreds of millions of dollars in transaction volume — and we’re still growing fast every month.

To get here, we’ve wrangled partnerships with Visa, multiple banks, and international airlines. We’ve raised a seed round from various angels, including The Points Guy himself.

We are now 5 teammates strong and looking for our next team members. The startup is about to get really hectic really fast, and we're looking for an additional teammate to join us on this adventure.

The Role

As Taekus’s first front-end-focused engineer, you will be responsible for taking designs from the design team and bringing them to life in React, filling in gaps with your own UI intuitions.

We care deeply about the sleekness and usability of our web portal -- that’s one of the key ways we stand out against the bigger banks with travel rewards. After all, one of the reasons that traditional credit card rewards are so hard to maximize and use properly is a convoluted user interface.

We want to deliver a travel rewards credit card experience that is intuitive and actually helpful to the user so they never have to worry about whether they're getting the best points deal.

Your role will require you to:

• Collaborate with designers & engineers to scope out features and product direction
• Be responsible for setting the technical direction as well as for planning deliverables
• Participate in code and design reviews to ensure quality and good architecture
• Write maintainable, clear, well-architected code, tests, and documentation
• Set architecture standards and patterns for our frontend which will be adopted by others as we scale
• Make direct technical contributions as well as provide guidance to team members

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience building production-grade software in react
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably at a startup or big tech company
• Desire to join a small but mighty team that’s ready to take on this multi-trillion-dollar market by storm
• Intrinsic motivation and the drive to solve difficult problems without guidance
• Ability to ruthlessly prioritize in a chaotic and ambiguous environment
• An open and growth mindset when giving and receiving feedback

Nice to Haves

• A love of travel (hacking) and credit card rewards
• Experience leading engineering teams and setting design standards and patterns in code
• Experience with Redux, Django, Python, Expo Go, and Postgres
• Experience writing code in a heavily regulated industry like financial services
